This text is intended to be a supplement to any beginning guitar text, or it also may be a stand-alone text.  As a classroom guitar teacher, it is necessary to have plenty of classroom material to fill the class time and keep students active in learning.  Most published beginning guitar methods are intended for individual use and not for the classroom.  There is rarely enough materials for classroom activities.  Quarter One:  Notes on the First 3 Strings in First Position offers 68 pages of materials.  Most school quarters last 45 instructional days.  There is enough material for more than a new page every single day.

This text is formatted to teach the first three strings in a 9-week quarter spending approximately 2 weeks (10 instructional days) on each of the three strings with plenty of materials for combining the strings.

Ensemble playing is introduced through duets and trios playing on just the first three strings.
